Dislocated Workers in Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Jefferson Counties Eligible for Free Google IT Support Certificate Through Eastern Gateway Community College
Steubenville and Youngstown, Ohio – Eastern Gateway Community College, in collaboration with Google, is offering a free, completely online program for working adults who have been impacted by job loss, lay offs, furloughs and income reduction interested in a career in Information Technology.
Eastern Gateway Community College’s Google IT Support Certificate is recognized by major employers such as General Electric, UPMC, PNC, Bank of America and many more. It is being offered for free to residents of Eastern Gateway Community College’s service district which includes Jefferson, Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties.
“This is a great opportunity for residents in our area who are looking to change careers and enter the IT industry,” said Interim President Michael Geoghegan. “Nearly every employer that uses computers has a need for IT support professionals. Eastern Gateway Community College is proud to team up with Google to make this certificate available in our region.”
The program is fully online and can be completed in just weeks. Students can begin courses starting May 25 through December 31, and will learn about troubleshooting, customer service, operating, system administration, automation and security.
The certificate program is being offered by Eastern Gateway Community College for dislocated or displaced workers from a grant funded by a partnership with Google and Jobs for the Future (JFF). JFF is a national nonprofit that drives change in the American workforce and education systems to achieve economic advancement for all.
