Academic advising at Eastern Gateway is responsive to the needs of busy working adults while recognizing the needs of students who are transition to life on our campuses in Steubenville and Youngtown.
Online and in-person, students meet with instructors when and where works best for them. All Eastern Gateway students, new and returning, are encouraged to work with an Academic Advisor throughout their time at EGCC. They are the student’s point of contact at the college, so no matter the issue, the Academic Advisor can either solve the problem or direct the student to the person who can.
One role of the Academic Advisor is to help students identify a major or program based on career and/or academic goals. If a student intends on transferring to a four-year college or university, the Academic Advisor should be notified so that they can help develop an appropriate academic plan. Academic Advisors can also teach students how to register for courses, make changes to a schedule, discuss academic progress, develop success skills or help a student apply for graduation.
Online advising offers additional flexibility, with advisors available 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. EST Monday – Sunday, nearly every day of the year. Students also have the option to self-select the advisor that best meets their needs, while also tailoring the length of the appointment. Each advising appointment is scheduled for 20 minutes, but students can book multiple, back-to-back appointments, as needed.
If you are not yet enrolled in EGCC please begin the process with the Admissions Office.
