On-Campus Food Pantries & Resources
At both the Steubenville and Youngstown Campuses, we have resources to help support students facing food insecurity. There are faculty and staff members with signs on their doors to show they are members of CARE Center or Food Pantry committees and can assist you.
Steubenville Food Pantry
Youngstown Food Pantry
The Youngstown CARE (Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education) Center provides a number of resources through their center, including:
- Food and personal care items
- Dog and cat food (through a partnership with Buster’s Brigade)
- Clothing, shoes, and accessories
- Connections to local resources
If you are an in-seat student and require our assistance and have yet to fill out our in-take form, please use the Food Pantry Application below.
The library staff members have written several guides to help students find resources for different courses, programs and general subjects; among them is one guide written by library staff member/CARES Committee member Pam Tarajcak which is designed to help students find state-by-state resources for food assistance. This guide is intended to be a living document and grow, so watch for more sections added.
Eastern Gateway Community College, in collaboration with COMPASS Family and Community Services, provides enrolled students, staff, and faculty with supportive services meant to enhance mental health, safety, and wellness, both on campus and online.Staff are available on campus to connect students to COMPASS-based services, community-based social services, and services offered by EGCC.
COMPASS staff can provide brief interventions for students dealing with:
- Stress
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Mental illness
- Trauma and/or victimization
COMPASS staff will identify, develop, and utilize positive coping strategies in cooperation with the individual, while also identifying supportive resources that may be helpful. In addition, staff are trained to help individuals navigate services available to them, as well as their rights, if they have experienced interpersonal violence, abuse, or sexual assault. Staff can locate community resources in their area, including linkage to providers of mental health treatment, shelter, and advocacy.
